Facilities
Celerion

Celerion-Lincoln, NE is by far the best place to participate in a study. Beside the treacherous winter snow to navigate, I dare you to find a better facility to go to. They have the most professional staff, positive attitudes, great compensation, and better-quality food. The down sides are that because the staff is so nice, they don't have a good rein over the problem participants and the inmates can sometimes run the asylum. If you do not have a pleasant stay there, it is because of other participants not the staff or facility. As many people have left feedback on this problem, hopefully they are taking steps to address it.
Icon

Icon has recently been rebranded as Accellacare. The study facility is in San Antonio, TX, and offers a variety of study opportunities, many of which are for active conditions. However, their selection of studies for healthy volunteers is limited. Accellacare is known for being one of the more comfortable facilities, with 2-4 people sharing a suite with a bathroom in each suite. This is a huge benefit for those who value privacy and comfort. While the food isn’t great, it is better than some of the other facilities, and they provide decent portions.
PPD

PPD is a leading CRO in the state of Texas, and you can always find an available study to participate in. They are known for being a reasonable and fair paying facility with regard to time commitment to pay ratio. However, there have been some studies where the pay doesn’t add up. Their standard method of payment is by check, and they usually pay upon check-out and specific outpatients. There have been hiccups with pay where their checks bounced, but those situations were resolved within a reasonable amount of time.
The facility is modern and has four housing unit areas: The Mountain, The City, The Hospital, and the Meadows. The Mountain and City are four-person suites with standard twin beds. The Hospital is a large open hospital-type area that can house over 100 subjects usually from multiple study groups. The Meadows is a smaller version of the Hospital that has three rooming areas that house approximately 16 subjects per room. The Hospital and Meadows have the most comfortable beds. All of the units have communal separate male/female shower facilities that are separate from their restroom facilities. You can often struggle to get hot water so when you shower is critical. The facility is modern and usually pretty clean, but it can only be as clean as the nastiest person in-house. Unfortunately, some nasty people are in the facility.
PPD has an activities coordinator that plans various craft and game events throughout your stay. These are not frequent, but they are nice when they occur. They have various entertainment rooms that are shared among all of the participants on a particular unit. There are two TV rooms and one game room per unit. The Meadows shares facilities with the Mountain. There are no entertainment options in your suites, so you should bring your own laptop and earbuds for your personal entertainment. There is also a computer lab/station within the three major units available for use.
